In 1982, the Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) took over the Cultural Talent Search Scholarship Scheme from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India in which initially 100 talented students in the field of arts and crafts were identified from all parts of the country and provided with scholarship. The Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) provides 500 new scholarships each year, out of which minimum 5 seats each are reserved for all the states and at least 3 each for all the Union Territories. Minimum 10 scholarships are reserved for the state of Jammu and Kashmir also. While awarding scholarships preferences are given to children of families practicing traditional art forms.
