MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has held 40 drugs not meeting the requisite standard. This came when the agency carried a routine inspection.
In March, among the 40 seized drugs, 21 were from the tax-free state of Himachal Pradesh and 8 from Rajasthan as per the reports by Maharashtra FDA.
Some names like Galpha Laboratories with 11 samples and Baba Ayurveda Pharmacy from Rajasthan with 8 samples were zeroed in on. While others like Elder and the Madras Pharmaceuticals also figured in the list of seized drugs.
The state FDA picks up random samples of drugs from chemists and druggists and send for testing. The department will soon issue show cause notices to these companies.
